we talk of heavy words so lightly thrown but what happens when sentiments yield broken bones? a toxic love so sick, burning everything in sight. i am left to wonder, how will i know if everything’s alright? a constant deconstruction and no one cares in the end while we constantly pretend. a tear stained fist. a broken window pane. a single action forfeits your good name. you want to justify all your reasons just to fight. i build a wall to shield myself so i can sleep at night. you paint a pretty picture, all the knives are at your throat. you’re standing on a burning bridge while we’re stuck choking on the smoke. it’s all alright. it’s all okay. preservation measured in the miles we stay away. there is a consequence to shouting in the wind; words that push the air, but nobody’s left there to take them in. i am not the cause. i am not to blame.

jeff, don’t let that girl break your heart again tonight. we’re screaming down the turnpike, on our way to the next show. life is too short to be this miserable. you are golden, i just want you to know. no, i don’t know the misery your eyes have seen, but i’ll pick you up in hoboken. things will be alright, just wait and see. maybe we won’t be so broken. the lifetime songs that saved your life, they speak to me too. we’ll sing along and on and on until our voices fail us. i won’t let my anxieties get the best of me. we can get through this. intact, together. wait and see. the crew’s not around anymore, hey man, that’s the way it goes sometimes. less hair and more tattoos. we still sing the same old songs, we still have the same old crews but seasons fucking change! breakdown to breakdown, same scene, different town.

Vital Signs 01:43
how do you know that you’re alive? when all the numbers add up and everything’s just fine? everybody’s looking for footprints from a time before. evidence that we’re not the ones who fucked it up. you’re right on the line but you’re feeling just fine. everything’s gonna work out alright this time. everything’s gonna work out just fine. how do you feel about selling out? when all the numbers boil down to nothing much. everyday your time is spent coming up with this month’s rent while a ticking clock reminds you it’s nothing much.

a key means nothing without a lock. i catch myself taking stock of all the things that i can not live without. night time nickel plated knocks. the rise and fall of shallow shocks and all that go to show how life can really be. i can’t talk about the stars. pour it out, three fingers deep. drink it down. let it creep into the corners of every day to day. make excuses just to stay while everything fades to grey and all the things that free me lock me to this place. i can’t talk about the stars. i don’t know anything about them.
5.
all the basements in new jersey still remember your name. unassuming watcher with a flyer saved in vain. i’ve heard all the stories and i offer them to the past cause today is far more interesting. you are more than just your years. i’m just happy that you’re here. so we can sing along until the song is done. with a careful eye on start time, up late on a school night. what the fuck is this guy doing now? i know you’re sick of all the bullshit. all these nerds slammin gansetts, but still you show up every god damned time.

Notebooks 03:20
words get lost between the cracks. it’s hard to find the verse in a thousand sleepless nights. a thousand stories we can tell. as brief as a breath and here we are. can you help me find the words? can you help me write the song? we’re lost, we’re found. just trying not to drown in that silent starry night. lined paper lookout leads the way, and suddenly we’re home. suddenly we’re home. play these heartstrings like a harp. we fight our way out one hour at a time. we list, we sway. tempest tossed, but i still maintain that i see it in you. you just have to trust me.
